Our
Story
Francis van Hoi didn't have the best start in life either. The war took him off the streets in his youth and brought him to Germany. There he was given the chance to get an education, learnt to be a chef, started a family and eventually ran three trendy restaurants of his own in Munich.
In old age, Francis returned to Vietnam and founded vocational schools for catering in the dual system in Ho Chi Minh City, first for Misereor and later with his own Francis Restaurant School (FRS). His aim was to enable disadvantaged young Vietnamese people to train as catering specialists. To this end, he established an extensive network with churches and social organisations in urban and rural areas.

In Germany, Quantensprung Consulting has addressed the problems caused by dubious employment agencies. These agencies not only charge high placement fees on both sides, but also drive many jobseekers into precarious dependencies - including the risk of human trafficking.
With FRANCIS UNITY, they jointly offer companies a responsible and transparent solution for recruiting qualified specialists and trainees from abroad. The co-operation deliberately dispenses with intermediary agencies and enables direct contact with motivated applicants. This not only provides companies with committed employees, but also contributes to fair and sustainable working conditions.
The first students of the FRS, dual-trained and AHK-certified catering specialists, are currently preparing for their future in Germany to start their journey in autumn 2025.
We are also launching a trainee programme for other professions. The applicants are assessed by Francis for suitability, prepared for life in Germany, learn German up to B1 level and complete an internship in their chosen profession.

Are you interested in giving one of these young people a perspective in Germany?
Then let's talk about how you too can become part of Francis Unity.
